Brussel Sprouts with Chestnuts

A seasonal classic that traditionally accompanies Christmas dinner.
Ingredients
- 400g brussel sprouts
- 200g chestnuts
- 20g unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 13 minutes
Serves: 4
Method
- Peel off the outer-most layer of leaves from the brussel sprouts and trim off the very bottom of the base.
- Put the brussel sprouts into a large pan of salted boiling water and cook them for 10 minutes. Then drain off the water.
- In a frying pan over a medium heat, heat the butter and oil. When the butter has melted and started fizzing, put in the chestnuts.
- Fry the chestnuts for 2 minutes, then add the brussel sprouts into the frying pan, stir them around for 10 seconds and season them with salt & pepper.
- Tip the contents of the frying pan into a serving dish and serve.
